What is Watermark Community Church?
Around here, we often say “Watermark is one church with four campuses and thousands of locations.”
We know you’re probably thinking: Huh? What does that mean?
Watermark is a local expression of the Body of Christ that meets on four campuses around the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. But we believe that “church” is not a building – it’s a people. Every weekend, we encourage the thousands of people who worship with us to go and be the church in their homes and communities.
In the 17 years since Watermark started, it has grown from a core of eight families to more than 20,000 people attending the eight weekend services or any of the 120+ ministries that operate throughout the week—many volunteer-led, including The Porch (young adults), Merge (pre-married), re|engage (marriage enrichment), and re:generation (recovery).
Who is this conference for?
If you’re asking that question, it’s probably for you. We believe leadership matters like nothing else – especially leadership within The Church. This conference is for anyone who feels the “weight” of responsibility for a local church or ministry. That could be pastors, planters, elders, volunteer leaders, etc. Whether you teach every Sunday, lead in student ministry, or help with small groups, you will have the opportunity to learn from others who excel in the exact role you play.
At Watermark, everyone on staff – regardless of position – is expected to act like an owner and a leader. A goal of the CLC is that the principles we discuss are relevant to every position within a church staff, including those outside traditional “ministry” roles – like IT, operations, HR, media, communications, administration, etc. Our entire staff will also be available during the conference to connect with you and answer questions.
Wondering if your church is too small or too big to get something out of the CLC? We believe there are no such things as “big” or “little” works of God. What's new for 2018?
At Watermark, we couldn’t do anything the same way twice even if we tried. If you’re coming back for round two (or three!) of the Church Leaders Conference, our goal is that you would walk away just as energized as you (hopefully) were after your previous experience(s), without feeling like you’re experiencing déjà vu.
We’re also constantly looking for ways to improve. In fact, the majority of 2017’s second-year attenders felt that the conference was better than the year before.
Here are a few of the things in the works for 2018:
New main stage sessions. We’ll still seek to inspire you with God’s vision for His Church and how we can lead others (and ourselves) to be all God intends us to be. But expect to hear new themes, stories, illustrations, and more from our staff.
Several new breakout sessions. While we’ll keep a majority of our breakout sessions the same, we’ll mix in a lot of new options so you’ll be able to learn about new ministries and explore new topics. We’ll also be offering an opportunity to dive deeper into certain topics from last year for repeat attenders.
More time on the schedule for team debriefing and discussion. Many of you told us you felt like you’d been drinking from a firehose. So in an effort to give you more time to debrief, digest, and compare notes with your team, we’ve created more margin throughout the schedule to allow for just that.

What is a Workshop?
Back for 2018, we’re opening our doors the day before the Church Leadership Conference officially begins to offer pre-conference Workshops. Attending a Workshop allows you and your team to take a deep-dive into one of Watermark's core ministries, get personal training from ministry leaders, and connect with leaders from other churches who are passionate about the same area of ministry you are!
Each pre-conference Workshop begins on Monday April 23, at 12:30 pm and runs through Tuesday, April 24 at 11:30 am. The Church Leaders Conference officially kicks off Tuesday, April 24 at noon.
This year's workshop tracks include equipping, community and connecting/assimilation, Young Adults (The Porch), Children's, Students, Marriage Ministry, Recovery, and Executive Pastor. Learn more about available Workshop tracks.
You can register for a Workshop by selecting the “Conference + Workshop” option during registration.
Are there any big name speakers at this conference?
That depends on how you define “big name.”
If by “big name,” you mean “celebrity” – then no. One of the unique aspects of CLC is that there are no speakers from outside Watermark. We want to give attendees an inside look at how our church operates by giving them access to the people who run the day-to-day operations of our ministries.
But if by “big name,” you mean “big guys who also have names” – then yes! An odd number of our key leaders easily clear 6’5.’’

Which hotels do you recommend?
We have negotiated a group rate next door at the Westin Park Central. To receive the discounted rate, register using this link or mention Watermark Community Church when you call to book a room.

How do I sponsor someone to go the CLC?
Simple! Just click here. Choose the “Sponsor a Friend” option and enter in the name and email address of the person you would like to sponsor. Once you complete the registration process, send your friend a personal word of encouragement. We’ll take care of the rest!
Is Watermark putting on this conference to make a profit?
Our goal is to bless, encourage, and equip the body of Christ; candidly - we’ll be happy if we break even. If finances are the primary reason you and your team can’t attend the conference, please let us know.
Do we need to rent a car?
This depends on how much of Dallas you’d like to see while you’re in town. Click here for some ideas of what to do while you're in Dallas! All three of our recommended hotels are within walking distance of our campus and offer several eating options. Lunch and dinner each day will be included in the price of your ticket (and trust us…you’ll regret skipping the meals). Uber also has a strong presence in Dallas.
Will the conference sessions be recorded?
Yes, all conference sessions will be recorded. Audio of the breakout sessions and video of the main sessions will be made available about a month after the conference to attendees.
One of the team members I registered is no longer able to attend. Can I switch them with another person?
Absolutely. To change or update your attendee list, please contact our team.
Are conference tickets available at the door?
Yes, a limited number of conference tickets are available at the door. However, for best conference pricing, we strongly recommend you purchase your tickets in advance.
Are refunds available?
Sure thing! You can receive a full refund anytime before April 1.
What is included in my ticket price? We hope you think it’s a steal!

- 1-day Ministry Workshops (additional $50)
- All conference materials (including post-conference video and audio recordings)
- Unlimited coffee, drinks, and snacks each day
- Meals: At Watermark, we take food seriously. For the CLC, we essentially pick some of our favorite Dallas eateries and bring them to you! Our hope is to make the CLC meals the best darn conference food you’ve ever had. Your ticket will include the following meals:
- Tuesday: Lunch (for Workshop attendees) and Dinner
- Wednesday: Lunch and Dinner
Are meals provided?
Dinner is provided on Tuesday night (April 24) and lunch and dinner on Wednesday (April 25.) Workshop attendees will get lunch on Tuesday (April 24). One of our goals in doing so is to help you and your team maximize your time by not having to leave campus. Come hungry; we think you'll like what we provide!
Can I bring my child?
While we love kiddos, childcare isn't available during the conference.
How do I register for the ministry showcases?
Sign-ups for ministry showcases will be available in the spring. Be on the lookout for an email from us!
I live outside of the United States and am interested in attending CLC. Can you help me obtain a visa or travel resources/sponsorship to attend?
While attendees from outside of the United States are welcome, we understand that travel resources and/or obtaining a visa may prohibit some from attending. Because we receive more requests for financial assistance than we are able to accommodate, we are only able to provide assistance through existing long-term relationships and ministry partners.
